The ground rises sharply west of the centre, and from the terrace by Sainte-Anne church you look straight down the Loire — the island, the cranes, the bridges, the estuary heading for the sea.
It is a residential quarter of steep streets and long staircases, and the walk up from the quay is genuinely steep.

Free, and the best view of the river in the city. The tram will get you most of the way up if the hill is not appealing.
